John Jonker Obituary
Ringwood - John Albert Jonker, age 80 of Ringwood passed away peacefully at his home on February 10, 2021. He was born in Prospect Park and lived in Hawthorne before moving to Ringwood fifty-five years ago. He worked in the Glaziers Union Local 1009 for many years until his retirement in 2003. He served the community of Ringwood for 55 years as a volunteer firefighter in the Erskine Lakes Fire Department. Beloved husband of Amelia (DeVries) Jonker of Ringwood. Loving father of Philip Jonker and his wife Donna of Ringwood and John Jonker of Ringwood. Dear grandfather of Luke, Cortney, Daniel and Kayla. Funeral service on Monday 9am at the D'Agostino Funeral Home 881 Ringwood Avenue, Haskell. Interment at Fairlawn Cemetery, Fairlawn, N.J. Visitation on Sunday from 1-4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to the Erskine Lakes Fire Department in Ringwood, N.J.

So sorry I missed your send off Brother, as I was away. I spent 30 plus years working with you as a FF in Ringwood John and it was always a pleasure. Every time I saw you we would always have a chat and it was always nice to see you. You were the true meaning of a volunteer who gave his all to the community for 55 years!! That is a long time and Ringwood,ELFC will always be better because of you!! Thank you for your brotherhood and dedication John! I will truly miss you my friend, until we meet again.... I’m at a total loss of words. Mr J was truly one of a kind. His smile was contagious and his heart was huge. Ringwood has truly lost one of the best there is. Sending lots of love and peaceful healing to the entire Jonker family.

An amazing, incredible, soul who touched so many lives, including my own. "Dad" Jonker you were an incredible husband, father (& father-in-law) and grandfather. I always loved you. You will truly be missed by so many. You were a community hero as a volunteer firefighter serving in the town of Ringwood; the first of the three generations that are still firefighters in Erskine Lakes Fire Dept. You were a family hero in your grandchildren's eyes and forever will be.
May God comfort "Mom" Micky Jonker, John, Phil and the rest of the family. Our love for you Dad will never fade.
Heaven has gained another beautiful soul and Angel.
