Joyce Rys Obituary

RYSJoyce. Following a long and fulfilling life, Joyce Rys passed away quietly in the early hours of June 20, 2007 in Austin, TX. Born in New Jersey, she was an accomplished woman, ahead of her time, and a woman of strength and dignity. Prior to moving to Austin, she had been a longtime resident of Fair Lawn. She and her late husband, New Jersey State Assemblyman C. Gus Rys, were active in many civic and charitable activities. Joyce and Gus were members of St. Anne's Catholic Church. Joyce is survived by her son, Kenneth F. Rys and his wife, Susan; and her daughter, Paulette J. London, and her husband, Michael. Joyce was a devoted grandmother to Cynthia London, Suzanne Cullen, Kenneth D. Rys, Michael J. Rys and Elizabeth Sanger. Joyce had four beloved great grandchildren. She will also be remembered as a special aunt to nephews Buddy, John, Roger and Richard and their families. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, 1 PM at Vander Plaat Colonial Home, Inc., 13-31 Saddle River River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, (201) 797-3500. Interment to follow in Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received Tuesday 11 AM-1 PM. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a memorial contribution to a favorite charity.
