Arthur Mackie 1935 - 2020
Waterford - Arthur Mackie, age 85, of Waterford, passed away on December 24, 2020, at Apple Rehab in Uncasville.
He was born in Norwich, March 14, 1935, the son of John and Winifred Wilbur Mackie.
Arthur grew up in Sterling and he served in the U. S. Air Force and the Army Reserves. He then worked as a machinist at Electric Boat Company in Groton.
He was an advocate for veterans and enjoyed fishing and woodworking projects and spreading laughter to everyone he knew.
He is survived by his daughter, Norma and her husband Stuart Sherman of Sterling, a son, Michael Mackie, and his grandchildren, Kerric and Knowelle Sherman. He was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, Jan. 7, at 11 o'clock at Riverside Cemetery, Oneco. There are no visiting hours.
Byles Memorial Home, New London, is assisting the family.

Sorry to hear of Arthur's passing condolences to the children. Art was a 2nd cousin of mine from my paternal grandmother Connie Mackie Phillips. He was a lot of fun and remember him when he worked at EB
