Brother of truth and light!
Gary was a life saver for me, in a time when assistance was critical; he offered his help with no hesitation. His wisdom and kindness will always be remembered and cherished. A man of enormous heart and sharp intellect, a dear friend and fellow seeker of Truth.

Our conversations in the Sacred Valley of Peru, as well in the deep jungles, and electronic interactions will always be some of my most memorable and perhaps significant sharing; yet to be unrivaled. Gary, you helped me to look further than societal programming, to believe in myself and something greater; to always continue forward against all odds.

Thank you for your gifted copy of the little rainbow book as you so fondly referred to; Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich. Thank you for your assistance on all levels and the time we spent and the many conversations; you will always be cherished and missed.

Tupanichiscama

Which means in Quechua: Till we meet again whether in this world of the physical or in the world of the spiritual; we will definitely meet again.

I met Gary when I was a resident and Employee of the Historic Country View Cottages in Elkton, VA. Gary happened to notice that I had a painting of Cape Neddick, better known as Nubble Light on my wall. He recognized it immediately, and we learned through conversation, that we had the Navy and and Browns Ice Cream in York, Maine in common. Such a small world we inhabit. My main passion is Health Advocacy, and I was honored to advocate for Gary when he needed medical care for some kidney problems.

I loved hearing Gary tell stories about living in Hobart, Indiana. He even showed me some of the home movies of family gatherings like Christmas. I felt like I knew his family personally. Gary was so very intelligent and compassionate especially for those less fortunate than himself.. His determination to bring his Uncle Don back from Vietnam, and arrange for a full Military Honors Funeral at Arlington National Cemetery was very moving. Though I knew Gary for a very short time, I will forever cherish that time and our friendship.

I was in 2nd grade with Gary and thought of him when I would think of friends in school. I recall a memory of when his dad brought a baby lamb to school for show and tell. Its neat how someone can leave such a precious memory in my heart and mind.

Gary (Little brother), even though you were an inch taller then me.

Just want to say farewell for now.

Although our time we spent together as adults was far and few between, I have many fond memories of those times and many more from when we were kids and teenagers living on 10th Street. We had a BLAST riding ponies (Rocket, Lady, Princess and Ted) and our horse Champ, he was a real bute. We cant forget Blubo, Dad had to tune him up once and awhile (Stubborn & mean), go-cart races, motorcycles , etc. Cant forget those forts and corrals we built in the woods across the street or when you played hooky and played in the neighbors barn instead of going to school. You were an ornery little cuss! LOL Cant forget playing hockey at Knights pond or the day long bike rides we would take, Im sure Mom had to be freaking out after eight hours.

None of this could of happened without our HARD working Father Andrew David Dave Erwin (The hardest working man Ive ever known.) and Mother Margarett A. Erwin. There sacrifices enabled us to enjoy our childhood and teenage years.

Ahh, the good ole days, I could go on and on and on.

Well Im going to end my little Memory Lane talk and say goodbye to you for now. Im sure well cross paths again in the future, one soul to another.

Well be missing you,

Bruce

Gary was basically family to me growing up. He was a man I looked up to and had great respect for. I spent numerous days at his house in Hobart with him and my Aunt Laura. If it was for a family reunion or riding our 4-wheelers or just over there for some Sunday football. It was always a joy and I miss those days greatly. He will be someone Ill never forget and I will always have great memories of him. The world lost someone special that day.
