Dear Kate, Alex, and other family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I first met Alan at L.R. Green school, and his intelligence and warmth were immediately apparent. I think he was holding a copy of the NY Times. I later learned that he was a writer, and had the pleasure to read some of his work.
Alan was a unique and wonderful person with a unique and wonderful family. The term one-of-a-kind comes to mind. I always enjoyed my visits to the Friedman house and other get-togethers. I know you will miss him greatly, and hope that the many memories you have will provide comfort.
Much Love,
Susan K. Ortlieb and family

To the Friedman Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
