EPHRAIM STURM Obituary

STURM--Rabbi Chaplain

Ephraim H. Gentle, gracious, prescient. These were some of the qualities of Ephraim Sturm, as executive Vice President of the National Council of Young Israel, brought a turning point in the 1950's for Jewish university students when Rabbi Sturm championed the idea that students could practice their religion without hindrance and be able to obtain kosher food at universities whose respective dining facilities omitted kosher options. We, today, at Cornell University are early beneficiaries of Rabbi Sturm's initiative and will always be appreciative of his assistance and guidance. Richard J. Bornstein,'62, Chair Endowment Board of Trustees of the Center For Jewish Living at Cornell University

As a child, growing up across the street from where the family lived and being welcomed into the family as their favorite babysitter, their world became my world and I couldn't have asked for more wonderful
friends and mentors. He and Marian will always be remembered and loved. Judy (Shulman) Eisner

May Ephraim's name and memory and loving kindness live on forever. His goodness is reflected in all who knew him. He is still much loved and much missed. Judy (Shulman) Eisner and Dr. William Shulman and families.

Warm and loving and kind. There aren't enough accolades to describe Rabbi Sturm (Frank to me). My brother and I think about him often.

I just happened upon this. I was saddened to realize that my beloved friend and mentor had left us a while back and I hadn't known. I often think of "Frank" and Marion, as I knew them and the impact they had on my childhood and young adulthood. I have wonderful memories of them and of baby sitting for all of the kids. You all were my other family.
With love, Judy (Shulman) Eisner,
