FADI HADDAD Obituary

HADDAD--Fadi, Pediatrician, Psychiatrist and Author Who Focused on Vulnerable Children. Fadi Haddad, MD, a leading force in psychiatric work with children, died on November 29, 2017 at age 50 after a brief battle with cancer. Dr. Haddad was Clinical Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine. At Bellevue Hospital, he served as the Director of the Interim Crisis Clinic and Mobile Crisis Unit and then as the first Director of the Children's Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CCPEP), the only of its kind in the world. Dr. Haddad taught and lectured around the world and co- authored the book, Helping Kids in Crisis, which won the 2015 British Medical Association Best Psychiatric Book Award. He is survived by his father, brother, sister-in-law, two nephews, niece-in-law, god- daughter and many devoted friends, colleagues, and patients. Donations to continue Dr. Haddad's legacy of work with vulnerable children can be made through the Fadi Haddad Memorial Fund at the Flawless Foundation. A memorial will be held April 14.
