GUSTAV SZABO Obituary

SZABO--Dr. Gustav. Dr. Gustav Szabo passed away peacefully in his sleep at his residence in Tudor City Place, NYC, Tuesday evening October 2nd. Beloved father, he is survived by his three children, Pia and Thomas from NYC and Paul from Mamaroneck, NY. Born in Budapest Hungary on April 4th, 1921, he became the youngest individual at 18 years old, to have a seat on the Budapest Stock exchange when his father passed. After graduating the Business School at the University of Budapest, Gustav arrived at Ellis Island in February 1949 on Valentines Day. Speaking four languages fluently, he attended Columbia University where he received his Phd in Economics and lived at International House where he formed many of his life long friendships. As the founder of Progress Unlimited Inc. and Live Leads Corporation, this allowed him to travel the world and visit over 20 countries. He was also an interpreter for the U.S. State Department and introduced invited Hungarian groups to the country he loved. Full of life and love, he was always happy skiing or swimming, playing tennis or bridge, reading and traveling or just talking with old friends and family being sure to always end with a funny story or anecdote. The memorial service will be held on Monday, October 7th at 12:00pm at St. Stephens Church 414 East 82nd Street NYC 10028. 212-861-8500 www.ssh-nyc.org. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your local boy scout troop on Gustav's behalf.
