Dear Judy,
David and I just read the sad news about Steve. We send our heartfelt condolences - to you and the family. I remember what a gentle and kind presence he was in the Philharmonic. Seeing him and talking with him was always a pleasure. We will always carry wonderful memories of this lovely man and beautiful musician.

Dear Judy,
I am so deeply saddened by Steve's passing. He was a kind, loving, and gentle man with a marvelous wit and sense of humor. He was a brilliant clarinetist and the finest colleague I ever had. I will always remember the beauty of his sound, perfect intonation, and impeccable execution of any and all music he performed. He was always calm even under the most adverse and demanding circumstances. It was a great privilege to play next to him and get to know him. He was a powerfully positive influence on me, both in music and in life.
I think of Steve often and will miss him for all of my days.

I'll always remember my wonderful days in the Clarinet section of the NY Phil, sitting near the great Steve Freeman, what a joy. Thanks for those fun times, Steve. You are missed by many & will never be forgotten. With love, John Moses

Dearest husband, I miss you so much. This entire recent and now emerging journey has been arduous and almost unbelievable. But I am also coming up with many different ways to keep you very close, and that helps.
Now we are left without this kindly and beloved man, except for his remaining in both memory and spirit, which we need to call up as much as able to. He is in a well-deserved and needed peaceful rest, after the futile and almost unreal happenings and struggles of those two weeks.
And now is the time to need and want to also focus on what this man was like and on happy and special remembrances. We invite you to join us with that here.
~Judy
