ROBERT SANDHU Obituary

SANDHU--Robert (Bobby). Born in Glen Ridge, NJ on November 21, 1968 he was the beloved son of Randhir S. and Kuldip K. Sandhu and loving brother of Sandy Sandhu and Teena Sandhu Pollock. During his high school years he met Sherwin Pollock, who became one of his closest friends and who later joined the Sandhu family when he married Teena. A lover of books and knowledge, he did his undergraduate work at Rutgers University and went on to law school at St. John's University. After obtaining his law degree he was fortunate to join the firm of MacKenzie Partners in Manhattan as a proxy solicitor, becoming a senior vice president in the firm-a job he loved and a position he retained throughout his life. He relished living in NYC-connecting with its history and people. Along with his passion for reading, playing with his three nieces (Kyrin, Maya, and Tara), good food, fine beer, he loved being with his friends of whom he was fortunate to have many. He was a very strong believer in giving back to the community and to those who supported him-generous in giving of his time and money. In 2006 he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Hodgkins lymphoma. Despite his courage, the rallying of family and friends to his side and the limitless love and support of his colleagues at MacKenzie Partners-his second family, he passed away in his sleep on November 18th, 2009, 3 days shy of his 41st birthday at his home in Manhattan. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.

One of the most pleaseant, intelligent, humorous, generous and respectful men I have ever encountered. He is one of maybe 3 or 4 people whose presence or company I not only never minded, but always welcomed. He and his friend Bob provided the forum for me to propose to my wife. Bob even took it upon himself to "adopt" me along with Bob, playing the role of my adoptive "mother." I will always be able to hear his voice in my head, and will always remember him with intense fondness and comfort.
