On November 20th, 2023 we lost Alex's beloved wife Gloria Schloss, an accomplished artist in her own right, a loving mother, mother in law and cherished nana.

As I spend more time at home, I am able to enjoy Alex’s art on my walls.. I think of him often and thank God for having him in my life. I hope his family is well.

Every time I look at Sir Alexs painting of Sintra, I smile, as I remember seeing it hanging I n the window one winter day, as I walked by the gallery. I fell in love right away, and knew I had to have it! I went into the gallery, had a long talk with Alex, and made the purchase. After years of hanging on the wall of my Manhattan apartment, it now has a new home in my Palm Beach condo, never having lost one bit of its beauty and charm! It has given me much pleasure these many years, and for that, I owe much to the talent of its creator, Sir Alex Schloss, who immortalized the beautiful Sintra on canvas.......a treasured possession! Thank you, sir, RIP. David Shapiro

I purchased Sir Alex's portrait of Sintra some forty-five years ago, after walking by the Plaza Hotel one afternoon, and seeing It on display in the window of the Gallery. To this day, it hangs on my wall in my Palm Beach, home, one of my most treasured and beautiful possessions! He was a marvelous artist, and lives on through the beauty of his work!

I only just found out about Alex' passing. I posted a painting he did of me in the 1970's. Sometimes I'd go meet him at the Plaza Gallery and we would have drinks in the Oak Room. He would tell me fantastic stories about serving in WWII. Always a gentleman. I'd pose for him at the studio on 8th Av and then we'd meet Gloria and go to dinner. Such fun. I'll miss him.

I just learned of Mr. Schloss' passing and I'm deeply saddened by the news.

His son, Paul, was my closest friend for many years during school and I had the pleasant luck to have been in the Schloss household many times. I always enjoyed my interactions with all four of the family and I know how deeply this loss must be to Gloria, Arlene and Paul.

Be well my friends.

My sincerest condolences to Gloria and her family. Sir Alex was so kind and generous to our family. His talent was well recognized but the person behind the beautiful art was also a remarkable man. He and Gloria welcomed us into their home, hearts and lives. The world is diminished by his loss.

Truly Sir Alex was a wonderful and generous artist. He will be missed by us dearly. Were glad we have one of his paintings hanging up, and when we look at it we will remember him forever.

Nothing made me so sad as to know that that wonderful person passed away. I had chance to visit and to know those heroic couple: Alex and Gloria. No words for expressing lost, only warmest words for comforting Gloria and children.
