Joyce was one of my professors at Rutgers. She had us exhibit at Amos Eno and we were often welcome in NYC. She had us draw every day in a sketch book and I remember she had a project to "photograph the sky" every day for a year (?) from her coop. And the sheep- she was always talking about the sheep when she went to Europe with her husband. Just went to Scotland last summer and there were sheep all over, but she had us draw the animals at Cook College. Too bad I lost touch with Joyce; she had a wry world view and too bad the CFS slowed her down. Quite a feminist before the word had a critical connotation.

So sad to hear of Joyce's passing. She was a true and dear friend during difficult times in '67,'68. May her memory be a blessing.

Joyce and Ezra were friends of my parents when we lived in Hastings-on-Hudson, and Joyce babysat me before i can remember.
When i was one year old, she painted a large black-and-white picture of mom and myself from a Polaroid she had taken at our dining room table, which hung in my parents' various homes after we moved to Honolulu in 1969.
Upon mom's death it went with my dad to the D.C. area, after which i inherited it after his own passing.
The painting went to another home over a decade ago, but i have a professionally-done 8 x 10 photo of it on my ancestor altar. I will cherish it forever.
The sepia cast in this photo is not representative of the original tonality.

Sad news but does anyone know if she was on faculty at Rutgers/Douglass in New Brunswick or some other campus? I have a drawing by her and want to donate it to the most relevant museum in her memory.

I'm so sorry to hear the news. She touched so many lives in the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
(CFS) group which she was leading when I met her around 1995. She gave me and others so much support. The group became inactive, but she still advocated and supported us by volunteering for the CFS community by phone. She has probably supported hundreds of people within the CFS community. She was there when I needed her the most and she was very good at educating and supporting those of us in her community who had CFS. She was a very special person who really cared about people no matter what nationality, religion or culture they came from.
I send my condolences to her loved ones and friends.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I met her in 2012 when she came to our support group in Delray. Joyce struggled greatly with her health and fought hard to stay alive. I admired her tenacity throughout it all. R.I.P. Joyce!
