When I was in high school in Auburn, AL I used to sneak out of the house to hear Billy Earl play at the local clubs. He was an incredible musician and charismatic performer and an inspiration to many guitar players, like myself.
When Billy Earl moved to Nashville to pursue a songwriting and recording career I was fortunate to be able to work with some of his former band members. And on a few special occasions Billy Early would come home and join us onstage for a few tunes. I believe the room temperature would rise ten degrees when he sang "The Thrill Is Gone"!
I still play about once or twice a month and often think of Billy Earl during those times. I am saddened by his premature passing and my condolences go out to his family. But I find comfort knowing he must be in heaven now jamming with his musical heroes, Lowell George and Duane Allman.

I have followed Billy's musical achievements over the years thanks to the internet. I was always so proud that I grew up just a mile or so from Billy in Cusseta, Alabama. In fact, his mother was my school bus driver and I knew all his bothers. My thoughts are with his family at this time. As for Billy, I hope heaven has a hell of a band. Patsy Cotney Johnson

He was a great and talented guy. I only knew him when we were teenagers but followed his path to the heights he worked his way up to. I know he will be missed but his music is everlasting and can bring us all a great deal of joy in the future.

We never had the opportunity to know Mr Mcclelland, but our family shared the cicu waiting room with your family this weekend. We couldnt help over hearing some of your conversations and our hearts went out to all of you. We were praying for you then and continue to keep you in our prayers during this sad time.
