Wilhelmina Williams

Wilhelmina Nadine Katura Watson Williams was born on May 26, 1945 in Daytona Beach, Florida to the late Josh and Minnie Watson. She was the fifth child born to this union.

She was baptized at an early age at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until she moved to further her career and travel the world.

When Wilhelmina decided to reside in the Golden State of California, she met the love of her life, Tommy Lee Williams in San Diego on a night out on the town with friends and they married on March 24, 1973. Three children were born of this union.

She was the proud loving mother of three children, April, Erika, and Nicholas; an extra loving grandmother...known as Nana...to Reial, Tanae, and Noelle; and a great grandmother to Aavanna and A'lani.

Wilhelmina received her formal education at Campbell Street High School. She attended nursing school at Volusia County Community College in Daytona Beach, Florida and furthered her education at San Diego State University in San Diego, California.

She was a Licensed Vocational Nurse for 46 years and decided to retire from Sharp Cabrillo Hospital and the career that she loved in 2009. To her, nursing wasn't just a job that she loved, she believed that she was called to care for others.

Wilhelmina lived and loved life to the fullest. She loved her family, her friends, and the time she got to spend with them laughing, exploring new things, and making memories. She loved her career and dancing...especially line dancing. She loved cruises, trips to different countries, and vacations with family & friends. Family traditions were important to her, so she was always passing along recipes and advice that she learned from her mother. She loved decorating the house for every holiday and having a new theme and family activity each Christmas.

She was a member of New Creation Church for many years and was involved with the Woman of Faith, Meet & Greet, 50+, Vacation Bible Study & Youth Groups.

Wilhelmina was also a member of a few different line dancing groups. The groups became more than just members in her class, they became family to her.

She was fun-loving, smart, and beautiful both inside & out. She had a heart of gold and befriended everyone. She was a strong, determined woman that didn't let any grass grow under her feet, as she was always on the go. She will be missed & remembered by ALL who came in contact with her.

Wilhelmina was proceeded in death by her devoted husband Tommy L. Williams; siblings Herbert Watson, Evelyn Watson-Gillis, Minnie Watson-Smith, Josh Watson, Jr., and Margaret Watson-Black.

After battling cancer for 15 months, Wilhelmina departed this life to be in the arms of the Lord on March 20, 2026. She leaves to cherish her memory with smiles, love, and laughter; daughters April D. Williams San Diego, CA; Erika D.L. Williams & son Nicholas E. Williams Hayward, CA; sister in-love Yvonne Watson Tallahassee, FL; brother in-love Reginald Black Sr. Littleton, CO; sister in-love Hattie (Lenell)Harris Opelika, AL; 3 granddaughters Reial Shields Los Angeles, CA; Tanae Shields & Noelle Shields San Diego, CA; 2 great-granddauthers Aavanna Love & A'lani Love San Diego, CA & a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces & nephews, great great nieces & nephews, extended family & friends.
