Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory - Crystal LakeH. Virginia Anderson (née Robson), 95, passed away in Lake in the Hills, IL, on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Born on March 13, 1931, in Abilene, KS, to Leila and Harry Robson, Virginia grew up in Abilene, along with her older brother Robert, who preceded her in death. Virginia was married to Lyle Anderson for 71 years. He preceded her in death in December 2024. The two met in high school and were married on June 12, 1953, in Abilene.
Virginia is survived by her son, Brian (wife Rozan) of Middleton, WI, daughter, Karen (partner Scott) of San Diego, CA, son, Eric (wife Denese) of Crystal Lake, IL, and grandchildren, Megan (husband Kumar), Jacob, Kristen, Shari (husband Vikas), and Elissa (husband Nate).
Virginia earned a B.S. in Education from Emporia State College in KS, and she worked as a school teacher in the early years of her marriage. Virginia said that her greatest accomplishment was raising three wonderful, happy children.
Virginia and Lyle lived in Crystal Lake, IL, for 45 years before moving to the Huntley Springs retirement community in 2020, followed by Melody Living in Lake in the Hills in 2023. They were longtime members of First United Methodist Church of Crystal Lake, and Virginia was a discussion leader in Bible Study Fellowship and was an active member of P.E.O. She loved playing bridge and traveling with Lyle. The two traveled extensively in the U.S. and abroad.
There will be a visitation on Friday, April 24, from 10am until a service at 12noon at Davenport Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
