Gerard Stein Obituary

Gerard ``Chick' Hughes Stein, age 90, died on May ,12 2010.

Jerry was a founding member of St. Hilary Church and a Veteran of World War II. He retired from Wabash National after being very influential in the trucking industry for over 50 years. Jerry was past president of the Truck Trailers Manufacturers Association.

Preceded in death by his parents, George I. and Mary H. Stein; his sister, Margaret and her husband Robert Mott; brother-in-law, William Green; mother-in-law, Jane M. Brown; and grandson, John Ragsdale Jr.; he is survived by his wife of 69 years, Eunice; his sister, Katherine (Herman) Weskamp; his children, Marie, Gerard (Pat), Timothy (Jennifer), Anne (Mark) Chapman, James (Kimberly), Sarah Stein and Wannie Cook; grandchildren, Anne (Michael) Thompson, Amanda, Emily, Hannah, Christopher, Mark Jr., Graham, Brian, Olivia, James Jr., and Elaina; great-grandchildren, Austin and Macy, and Chloe and Ben; sister-in-law, Jane Green; niece, Beth Green, Joyce Tulk and many cherished friends. The family would also like to thank Merry Anne Scheible, and Lilia Means for their kind and compassionate care.

Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. TODAY at St. Hilary Catholic Church. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call TODAY from 9 until 10:30 at the Ciriello and Carr Fairlawn Chapel (39 S. Miller Rd.). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Hilary Foundation, 2750 W. Market St., Fairlawn, Ohio, 44333-4236; the Palliative Care Unit at Summa Health System Akron City Hospital, P.O. Box 2090, 525 E. Market St., Akron, Ohio, 44309; or the ALS Association, DC/MD/VA Chapter, 7507 Standish Place, Rockville, MD 20855.

We are thinking and praying for all of you. Chick will be missed. We always so enjoyed him whenever we spent time together at family gatherings.

I also will always remember the trip to Maryland and what a wonderful man he was to kids and adults alike.
