Angelina Diggens Obituary

Diggens, Angelina , 87, of Ocoee, Florida died on February 11, 2017 with family by her side. Angie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who dedicated her life to supporting and caring for her family. Born of Italian immigrants Giuseppe and Angela Deluca Casabona on November 16, 1929 in Queens, New York, Angie graduated from John Adams High School in New York City. She then enjoyed working on the isle of Manhattan at McGraw Hill, at Lockheed on Long Island, and after she and her family moved to Altamonte Springs, FL, she worked at Crump London. She is predeceased in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Loyd Donald Diggens, who was an U.S. Army veteran in the Korean War. Angie and Loyd enjoyed traveling, especially to their mountain home at Big Canoe in Georgia. She possessed the rare self-taught talent of playing the piano well by ear. Angie loved the beach and had a reputation for lucky streaks at Bingo, playing cards, and Scrabble. She also loved a good cannoli or Entenmann's cake. But nothing made her happier than time spent with her sons and grandchildren. Her sweetness, joyful spirit, and laughter will be missed every day, with love. She is survived by her sister, Connie Dakin of East Northport, NY; her two sons: Harold (Donna) McEvoy III of Windermere, FL and Thomas (Judi) McEvoy of Overland Park, KS; three grandchildren: Thomas McEvoy; Kelly (Charlie) Bauer; Michael McEvoy; great granddaughter Hazel Bauer; nieces, nephews and extended family. She is predeceased in death by her first husband Harold J. McEvoy, Jr., her brothers Thomas, Louis, Charlie, and Anthony, and her sisters Lena and Grace. A Service celebrating Angie's life will be held at the Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home, 1148 E. Plant St, Winter Garden, FL on March 3, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with a private committal service to follow at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Flowers are welcomed or a memorial donation to your local Hospice or charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated.
