Peacefully at the Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital Ottawa, surrounded by his family, on July 10, 2016. John Burnett of Renfrew, in his 84th year. Dearly loved husband and best friend of Rita (nee Murphy) for 58 years. Much loved and respected father of Shirley-Ann Holley (Bernard), John (Lenora nee Pollet), Mary-Liz (Jennifer Latham), Margaret and Tom (Marilyn nee Agnew). Cherished Grandpa of Hannah, Delaney and Caroline Holley, Aimee (Gabe Baribeau), Annie, Liam and Lucas Burnett and Jack and Thos Burnett. Dear brother of Kelvin (the late Joan), Bill (Nora), Lorne (Nora), Earl (Ann), Dolly (Tom Clarke), Art (Lola), Ambrose (Darlene) and the late Emmett (Sheila). Dear brother-in-law of Tony Murphy (Helen), Helen Moloughney (Carmen) and the late Theresa and Tommie McKenna, Grant and Audrey Murphy and Mary and Goldie Mohr. John will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews and friends as well as employees and customers of John A. Burnett Ltd, which he operated for over 50 years. Visitations at the Goulet Funeral Home, 310 Argyle St. S, Renfrew Ontario, on Wednesday, July 13 7 - 9 p.m. and Thursday, July 14 2-4 and 7 - 9 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Friday, July 15. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church, Friday, July 15 at 11 a.m. Interment Parish Cemetery. In memory of John, donations to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation would be appreciated. Online condolences/ donations: www.gouletfuneralhome.com. Knights of Columbus are requested to assemble on Thursday, July 14 at 8:30 p.m. for fraternal prayers. Your devotion and integrity, a gift to us all.

My sincere condolences. I was just thinking of John the other day. He was such a sweetie and the kindest, most gentle man I ever knew. Every time I had my Dad out for a roadtrip to Renfrew, he would ask to stop in at Burnett's; I want to see John. He thought a lot of him. May you find peace and comfort in the days ahead.
