Ronald HERMANN Obituary
Ronald B. Hermann, 82, died peacefully in his home in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He is survived by his wife, France Tessier Hermann; his sister, Carol Goodman (Robert); his daughters, Jennifer Hermann, Sarah Hermann Russell (Glenn), and Alexandria Hermann; his son, Jesse Hermann (Julie), grandchildren, Eric, Matthew, and Bennett Hermann, and Allyson and Alexis Russell; and stepsons, Jonathan and Matthieu McClintock. Ron was born in Brooklyn, NY to Lillian and Jacob Hermann on November 18, 1931. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1953 and attended graduate school at New York University after serving in the Army. He built General Automotive Specialty Company, a company founded by his father and uncles, into a multinational producer of switches and locks supplying car, boat, and industrial original equipment manufacturers and the aftermarkets. He was very active in industry associations and served on the board of, and as Chairman (1984-85) of the Motor and Equipment Manufacturers Association. Ron was a strong supporter of the United Jewish Appeal and Jewish Federation. He was the recipient of the Torch of Liberty Award from the Anti-Defamation League in 1980. He served on the Board of Directors for Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, NJ. Ron ran the New York City Marathon in 1981. He had a strong love for the ocean and sailed his boat, Gosling, across the Atlantic in 1989. He was an avid golfer, bridge player, and a life-long Giants fan. My Dear France, Edward and I can only imagine how difficult these past months have been for you. Ron was a special person who had a zest for life. We considered him amongst our dearest friends. He was so generous and always had the best advice. Ron was wise and kind and he will be greatly missed. We love you and hope that you are comforted knowing what a wonderful wife you were to him.

France, Randee, & I were very sorry to hear of Ron's passing yesterday. Although I've only known Ron for the last few years I considered him a good & generous friend. He & I played golf together, shared many a meal & often debated the issues of the day from improving our golf games, our Champs group, our Club to solving the ills of the world. He will surely be missed.
