Gerald Stanton Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

Dr. GERALD B. STANTON Gerald "Jerry", age 92, went home to be with the Lord on October 14, 2010. He will be missed and mourned by his children, Kenneth Stanton, of Webster, NY; Sharon Russell of West Palm Beach; Lainey Elford of Palm Beach Gardens, and nine much loved grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Ruby Tinker of San Diego, CA, and his sister-in-law, OraLee Stanton of St. Petersburg, FL. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Dr. Mary E. Stanton; his brother, Bernard P. Stanton, and his son, Rick Stanton, who all welcomed him in heaven. Gerald was born to Maidie and Percival Stanton on April 22, 1918 in Cambridge, England. He and his wife met at Wheaton College and married on August 4, 1946. Gerald had a passion for learning as evidenced by his advanced degrees, including a Doctorate in Theology (Th.D.) from Dallas Theological Seminary. He authored numerous books, pastored churches, conducted numerous tours to the Holy Lands, but his greatest passion was teaching. He and his wife were founding faculty of Palm Beach Atlantic University, professors for Moody Bible Institute, and the founders of Ambassador's International. Upon retirement in the U.S., they both taught for ten more years in numerous Bible seminaries across Asia. Gerald retired from teaching Sunday School with his wife at First Baptist Church, West Palm Beach, on his 88th birthday, completing 70 years of faithfully teaching God's Word. He touched the lives of all who knew him, and will be greatly missed. Gerald's Celebration of Life will be held on October 22, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach, with a reception immediately following. Contributions in Gerald's memory may be made to the First Baptist Church. Thank you to our friends and family for all the love and support we have received! Dad is with our Lord now, safely resting in His Arms, but his positive impact on our lives will live on. To express condolences and/or make donations Visit PalmBeachPost.com/obituaries Web #5610863
