Dear Jim and Sharon:

Your mother was a very special friend to me. I met her over twelve years ago and since that time she has been ever present in my life and I felt it would always be the case. I have had a small red patent bag and a book of spiritual prose in my car for the next time I would see her. I find it hard to accept that I will not be able to give them to her and that instead I am writing in this guest book. Or that I just spoke to her on August 9, last Saturday morning.

I am glad she met my parents and had a great conversation with my father about the University of Cincinnati and Professor P. She was also delighted to finally meet Frank and Schultz.

I am very grateful for the gift of her friendship. I am not ready to miss her vibrancy, her courage, her intellect, her girlish laugh, her latest refinement of her home's interior design, her love of nautical themes, anything in the color red, libertarian opinions, her letters personalized with her artwork, her exceptional blue eyes, her expressive handwriting, her hand drawn maps, her determination, her honest advice, her forthrightness, and sharing a meal at TooJay's to name just a few.

I am so glad she finished her book, "The Apollonian Appearance" and published it. I know she had more writing and illustrations to share.

Most of all she shared her deep and absolute faith in Christ with me and through our shared faith I believe she is free and "joyfully" at peace.

She told me how much she loved both of you and you were always in her thoughts and prayers. I am still blessed with both of my parents. I cannot imagine the sadness you feel. My deepest sympathy to you at your great loss.

Peace be with you ~

Dear Jim and Sharon,
Your mother was a dear friend of mine for over 12 years. We first met at a Theta Founders Day in Delray, FL. I was working on my Ph.D. at FAU. We always kept in touch as I moved around the country and Carol was always so kind and loving to me and my children. She even flew out to CA for our wedding. I will truly miss our telephone conversations. We shared a great deal over the years and she was always there to listen with her kind and caring way. It comforts me to know she is now with the Lord. She was such a devout Christian. I have her new book by my bedside and am looking forward to reading it. We just spoke last week. She sounded full of life and excitement.
I have two pieces of art she made hanging in each child's room. One is a sailboat she made from paper I have framed and the other is a night time poem my son recites each night which Carol needlepointed. She will always be with us. She will be truly missed. I know she is in heaven looking down on us.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. This is a poem I wrote for Dr. Carol:
“My Angelica”

It was meant to be,
You and me…

When God’s gentle hand
Placed me at your doorstep

I knew the moment I saw you,
What you meant to me

Your gentle ways and witty words,
Laughing together like school girls

Words of wisdom, words of praise
I hang on every phrase

My saving grace, my dearest friend
We were meant to be…

Together forever
For all eternity!

Love, Kathy

May you rest in peace.
