Veronica Pastorini Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

VERONICA PASTORINI Veronica Pastorini, much beloved mother, grandmother and friend died peacefully on May 26, 2011 at Pennybyrn at Maryfield in High Point, NC. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, 11:00 AM, June 1, 2011 at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Lyndhurst, NJ. Ronni was born in Lyndhurst, NJ, on August 19, 1915. Her parents emigrated from Poland and she was raised in a small ethnic community where little English was spoken. In high school one of her teachers noticed her artistic talent and encouraged her to apply to Cooper Union Art School in New York City. Ronni submitted a portfolio and was accepted at Cooper where she studied under John Stewart Curry among other well-known artists. She graduated in 1936 and exhibited in many art shows in the New York - New Jersey area. In 1975 Ronni moved to Florida and opened a gallery in Palm Beach. She operated "Ronni's Gallery" in Via Mizner with great success until her retirement at age 85. At the encouragement of her daughter and grandchildren she moved to Greensboro in 2000 to be with and enjoy her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Pastorini, sister, Frances Miller, and brother, Louis Lapinski. Surviving are her daughter, Gail Scullion and son-in-law, Tom Scullion. Also by grandchildren Christopher Scullion, Brendan Scullion and Alicia Moore (Gary) and by great-grandchildren Gary, Ryan and Allison Moore and Mackenzie Scullion. Ronni's work expressed the beauty she found in the world around her. She had a song for every occasion and lived each day with joy which she shared with everyone who knew her. She will always be in our hearts. Friends will be received Sunday from 4:00-6:00 PM, at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Street Chapel, Greensboro, NC. Dear Gail -

Our sincere sympathies on the passing of your Mom....my Aunt Ronni. She was a kind and patient Aunt to me when I was young...I especially remember with fondness how your parents housed our family during some terrific hurricanes that knocked our electric out.

May you rest in peace, Aunt Ronni.

Dear Gail,
One of my fondest childhood memories is sitting on a swing under the cherry tree in your backyard on Walnut Avenue in Bogota, NJ. Your dear mom, as she handed us a cool drink, would caution us not to eat too many cherries as they would upset our stomachs. I remember her as a very calm, quiet, loving lady. How lucky you are to have had her for such a long time.
My deepest sympathies to you and your family upon her passing.
