Mr. Rood was a big part of my life as I gew up in Jupiter. He was my Sunday School teacher and took us monthly to the skating rink in West Palm Beach. He was out there skating too. There are so many memories to share and not enough time and space to write them. Vanessa and Nelson my sympathy goes out to you in this time of loss. We know he is in Heaven yet there is a void on earth.

Roy was there with a warm greeting for us when we moved here to Jupiter 18 years ago. He always had a warm smile, hug, and prayer for us. Sadly missed.

My memories of the Roods....What a great family, open and loving and always made you feel welcome. Mr. Rood somehow always knew when I needed someone to talk to or just listen to me, he would never judge me or the situation. He said the red door was always open if I ever needed him or Mrs Rood. I will miss them very much. Love and great respect. Dee Bertrand (an old Jupiter Inlet Colony Neighbor)

If you could pick one friend to have in this life, you could not do better than to have Roy Rood as that friend. And whether you knew him or not, he was your friend by all that he did with his life, to make everyone's life better. Art Ondich, Hobe Sound

I knew Roy from the Gideons he visited us many times in the St Lucie Camp and always had a very inspirational message, one could tell just from talking to him that he had a love for the lord that was very deep. Rest now my friend, we will continue to pass out the Bibles.

As a father I take great pleasure when someone compliments my daughters as they are an extension of myself. I never had the pleasure of meeting Roy, but I do know his son Nelson. Nelson is one of the most sincere, kind, caring and Godly men I know. His actions mentor me on a daily basis. I believe this character was a trait that Roy bestowed upon Nelson, thus as Roy touched lives while on Earth, he continues to do so through Nelson.

I knew Roy through the industry he loved and was the preeminent icon of: the Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association (FNGLA). Roy always greeted everyone as a friend, and everyone felt like they were his true friend. They were. May be that is why his name was known everywhere. I rarely went somewhere... anywhere... that someone did not know and love Roy Rood. In his later years he was rarely allowed to enter a room without receiving a standing ovation from his industry peers. My guess is he received one as he passed through the pearly gates and my guess is that he knows everyone there on a first name basis as well, especially the Father his so lovingly served. Roy, I know I speak for all your friends in the FNGLA, that organization you had such a shaping hand and influence in, when I say we love you and will very much miss you.
P.S. - Please give Pat our kindest loving regards as well when you see her.

What a wonderful person Mr.Rood was! He sure did love the Lord. I will always remember him coming into the Lighthouse Restaurant. He would share the gospel with just about anyone he would come in contact with. We can now rejoice that Mr. Rood is in the presence of our Heavenly Father.

To say Roy Rood was a great man is a great understatement. He was a Godly man of exceptional integrity. He was full of wisdom, and would pass it on to all who would listen. I lived across the street from him for several years, and He and Mrs. Rood would offer home made Lime Aid, and when I we were taking out the trash, a neighborly "hello" would lead into memorable 30 minute conversations. He has touched so many people, and was such a loving man, I consider myself blessed to have know him. My deepest condolences to the entire Rood family, and the Town of Jupiter.

Roy Rood and his wife Patricia were shining trophies of the grace of God. They lived their lives to the glory of His Son, Jesus Christ, their Lord and Savior. My family and I were blessed to be a part of their lives as we worshiped and fellowshipped with them at Grace Immanuel Bible Church. They cared for others with the love of Christ and loved to share the hope they had found through Him. We are thankful to God for the times we shared with both Roy and Pat.
