Family-Placed Obituary

JOHN JOSEPH BROGAN John Joseph Brogan, 96 years old, of Palm Beach, FL, died on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Hospice of Palm Beach County. Born in Chicago, IL, he was a resident of Palm Beach since 1969 and a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church. Mr. Brogan was active with countless charities and nonprofit organizations throughout Palm Beach County. He was a member of the Knights of St. Gregory; the Knights of Malta; was a frequent visitor of the Vatican, having served as a founding member and Board member of the Patrons of the Vatican Art; and a member of Bohemian Grove. Mr. Brogan was a founder and Board member of the Kravis Center; a Chairman of the Board at St. Mary's Medical Center; served on the Board of Directors at the Good Samaritan Medical Center for many years; and was instrumental in the development of Hospice of Palm Beach County. He was also a proud veteran of World War II, having served as an officer in the US Army. Mr. Brogan was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Mullin Brogan who died in 1980. He is survived by five children, John Patrick Brogan (Meg) of Bluffton, SC, Anne Mullin Segerson (Richard) of Palm Beach, FL, Thomas Joseph Brogan of Cape Cod, MA, James Edward Brogan of Los Angeles, CA, and Sheila Mary Brogan (William Reilly) of Ridgewood, NJ; nine grandchildren; six great grand- children; and his brother, Frank Brogan (Patricia) of Chicago, IL. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 2, 2012 at St. Edward Catholic Church, Palm Beach, FL, with Msgr. Thomas J. Klinzing, Pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends in fellowship immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of John Brogan to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
