My heartfelt sympathy to Joe's family and oh so many friends! He was more popular than any south philly politician!!! and did so much for south Philly kids athletics. I lived across the street from him for awhile, he was a good friend and neighbor. He will remain a legend!

I have only fond memories of Mr.Fieger. My Mom and Dad (Carl and Joan Hauser ) were good friends. As a small child, in the 50 s, I can remember going to Joe's house in South Phila. at Christmas time. The street was strung with lights and " Santa" gave gifts and candy to all the kids. On New Years Day his house was open for all. We'd watch the parade and run in for soup and hot chocolate. One summer, driving home from the shore, I was burning up with fever and popping out with chickenpox and he sang " Volare" for me all the way home. It was a long ride but I truly appreciated the entertainment. A wonderful person who will certainly be missed. Lois Hauser Rudderow

I first met Mr. Fieger in 1966 when I was twelve years old and playing football for EOM. At the time he was EOM football. I never knew a man with so much energy and excitment and it rubbed off on all of us who played. I was fortunate to have stayed in the neighborhood and played basketball in 35 and over leagues in Philly and lo and behold there in the stands would be Joe Fieger still checking out the old boys from the neighborhood. I commented to a co-worker the other day that the South Philly community lost a real friend. The number of people Joe touched and the number of generations is incredible.
All of South Philly will sorelay miss Joe Fieger. A true gentleman and friend to all.
Rest in Peace Joe.
