Anna Claude Obituary

Anna R. Claude PORTSMOUTH - Anna R. Claude entered into the gates of eternal rest and peacefully closed the last chapter of her life Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. She was born in Southampton County, Virginia to the late Curnel and Rosa Turner. Anna was predeceased by her husband, Norfleet Claude. She was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in the Tribe of Reuben. Anna is survived by her three daughters, Alma R. Hudnell (John), Cynthia Marie Battle and Eleanora Stowe (Thomas); one son, Norfleet Claude Jr.; 10 grandchildren, U. Terrell Battle (Glenda), Shaun Battle (Patricia), Lytrece Clark, Daryle Hudnell (Millie), Doreen Hudnell, Thomas Stowe Jr., Richard Stowe, Vernon Claude, Verita Buie and Terrie Vanderhorst; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers; four sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 2714 Frederick Blvd., Portsmouth. Elder Carlyle Turner will officiate and Elder Robert J. Joyner Jr. will deliver the eulogy. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Cynthia Marie Battle, 1150 Carrington Crescent N., Portsmouth. A viewing and wake service will be held at 6 to 8 p.m. today in Metropolitan Funeral Service, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Condolences may be offered at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.

Dear Marie and Family,

I was sadden to hear of your Mother's passing,You all are in my prayers.Our Lord said he would never leave you nor forsake you,I remember your Mom from the Old Douglas Park neighborhood,she was a very kind and gentle person who left a legacy of love and kindness in each of her children and grandchildren,and great granchildren.Each time you are feeling sad and miss her real bad,think of the many many memories you shared with her,may you find strength.May God wrap you in his arms of comfort and give you the peace that surpasses all understanding.
