Glen Claude, 92, of Webster City died Monday, December 8, 2025. Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2025, at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. A private burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery.
Glen Walter Claude, son of Fred and Hazel (Johnson) Claude, was born June 30, 1933, in Goldfield. On February 27, 1953, he was united in marriage to LaVonne Eslick at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple resided in Goldfield in the home that Glen built, where his entrepreneurial spirit had him become an owner/operator of a truck delivery service. His next two business endeavors were in welding and blacksmithing in Jolley, then Paton. Glen later worked at Kalin Johnson Monument and retired from Webster County Road maintenance. After retirement, he went to work part-time at Prinsco Trucking Company.
He was an avid and talented wood worker. Glen had an extensive workshop in the family home which he and LaVonne built in 1964 in Vincent. When his family presented him with ideas or pictures of projects he would turn them into a reality. Many treasured heirloom furniture pieces are seen every day by his children in their homes. The couple remained in Vincent until downsizing and moved to Webster City over 13 years ago.
Glen enjoyed assembling hundreds of 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles. He always knew the ones he had done, making it important to check his complete list before presenting him with a new puzzle.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, LaVonne; daughters, Cindy Anderson of Waukee, Glenda Ubben of Bradenton, FL; son, Randy (Donna) Claude of Des Moines; seven grandchildren, Tim (Amy) Anderson of Kansas City, MO, Nick (Heather) Anderson of Grimes, Alec (Thea) Ubben of Sarasota, FL, Curtis (Ashley) Claude of Omaha, NE, Jared (Laura) Claude of Chicago, IL, Charles (Jennifer) Magnee of Des Moines, Deanna (Justin) Mathias of West Des Moines; several great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Daryl Eslick of Webster City, Lowell (Mercy) Eslick of Acworth, GA; and sister-in-law, Paula Sherk of Webster City.
Glen was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mark Anderson; siblings, Albert, Evelyn, Viola, Richard, Maxine, Clayton; sisters-in-law, Audrey Eslick and Neva Masche; and brother-in-law, Scott Sherk.
He will be remembered for his strong work ethic which he passed along to his children and grandchildren, as well as his unending resources as a handyman.
