Catherine Shotton Obituary

Catherine B. Shotton
Virginia Beach - Catherine Emily Booton Shotton passed away peacefully on June 9, 2012 at the age of 99 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Judge and Mrs. John H. Booton of Luray, Virginia, and the widow of Frank T. Shotton, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Shotton of Suffolk, Virginia. She is survived by Francis (Frank) Thomas Shotton, M.D., of Corvallis, Oregon, Marjorie Shotton Pitkin of San Mateo, California, and Lewis Roller Shotton of Bentonville, Virginia, and each of their families.
She taught school for 5 years before her marriage. She was educated at Madison College, Harrisonburg, Virginia, and studied art at the Chicago Art Institute.
During her years in Suffolk, Virginia, she and her family were active members of the Presbyterian Church. Following her husband's passing in 1981, she later moved to Westminster-Canterbury apartments in Virginia Beach where she enjoyed her books, friends, and visits from her children.
Known for her caring nature and for her kind, thoughtful, refined demeanor, she also leaves an everlasting sense of a very loving, sacrificing, mother and wife, who, in turn, was deeply loved and greatly respected by her children and husband.
A memorial service will take place on Thursday, June 14, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Westminster-Canterbury, 3100 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23451.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Westminster-Canterbury Chapel Fund, 3100 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. Condolences may be made at www.rwbakerfh.com.
