Nina Wakefield

Virginia Beach - Wakefield, Nina Douglass 91, went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2016. She attended Mary Washington College in Fredricksburg, VA. Nina was a nurse, an accomplished seamstress and an artist. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Nina was preceded in death by her parents, Col. William J. Douglass and Ouida Ogelsby Irvin; oldest son, Douglass Anthony Wakefield; youngest daughter, Ianna Shelly Wakefield; and her younger sister, Carolyn Douglass Kromer. She is survived by her daughter, Ouida Wakefield Carrington (Bruce) of Knoxville, TN, Jayme Wakefield Melofchik (Neil) of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Gail Wakefield Tompkins (Tom) of Powhatan, VA; grandchildren, Jaime Carrington Szahun (Todd), Adam Carrington (Dana), Paul Carrington, and Cort Tompkins; and great grandchildren, Elias, Ianna, Abram, and E.J. Interment will be private and at a later date at Princess Anne Memorial Park in Virginia Beach, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
