Thomas Rosen Obituary

EAST PEORIA - Thomas M. Rosen, 62, of East Peoria, Ill., died at 7 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, while he was doing what he loved to do - duck hunting with his son.

Born on Jan. 26, 1948, to C.J. and Esther Plummer Rosen, he married Cheryl C. Reeves on Dec. 28, 2002, in Nashville, Tenn. She survives.

Also surviving are his father, C.J. Rosen of East Peoria; two sons, Jeffry Rosen and Joseph Rosen, both of East Peoria, Ill.; two sisters, Barbara Ann (David) Swearingen of East Peoria and Dr. Joyce (Dr. Ross) Hemphill of Madison, Wis.; one stepdaughter, Jennifer Johnston, and one stepson, Eric Johnston, both of Springfield, Mo.; three grandchildren, Dillon, Mya and Benjamin; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and one son, Michael Rosen.

Tom worked in the Common Components Group at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Mossville for over 40 years, retiring in April of 2010. He was on the A team with the Caterpillar Social Activity Group.

He had been serving on the East Peoria Youth Council and had served as a volunteer EMT for the Fire Department in East Peoria as well as the ESDA Dive Team. He was a Guardian with the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight and volunteered with the Red Cross as a driver and on their Emergency Response Team.

Tom loved to hunt and fish, especially at the Marshall County Fish and Wildlife Area. Tom was a member of Ducks Unlimited.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Private graveside services will be held at Oak Grove Bible Church Cemetery in Groveland.

Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or Rosen Wildlife Fund C/O CEFCU.

For Clem, Joe, Jeffry, Barb & Joyce. Sorry for your loss. Tina and I would have like to come to the visitation and funeral but unfornately we were a family funeral for our cousin on the same date and time. Barb and family, just shocked to see Tommy passed. We had lots of fun growing up on Springfield Rd. Tom and I worked at McDonald's and later at EPFD and there was never a lack of great conversation. A very good thing to remember in this crazy world of ours. Tom was at a lot of fire calls on nights he could have slept in. God bless you Tom.

Sorry to read of the death of your brother. I knew Tom while at Caterpillar, but don't remember where. Was he in the apprentice program? Enjoyed him as he always had a smile on his face whenever he talked with me. I remember sharing that with you when we did timecards together.
