Tu'Shawn Lavita Brooks was born on February 21, 1974 in Gary, Indiana to the union of Ethel and Leroy Brooks. She was the second child to this union. Tu'Shawn was known by her many nicknames such as, "Shawn, Pooh, Boss Hog, Baby Huey, Big Head, and Kanunnie." She grew up in church and was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the Holy Ghost at an early age while attending Bethlehem Healing Temple under the leadership of the late Bishop Dr. Scottie L. Jackson. Tu'Shawn attended schools in the Gary Public school system and graduated from Roosevelt High School. Tu'Shawn departed this life on April 5, 2021. She is preceded in death by father Leroy Brooks, sister Sherria Brooks, grandmother Ethel Smith and grandma Earline Brooks. Tu'Shawn leaves to cherish her memories to Ethel P. Ford (mother) of Lafayette, IN, 3 brothers: Jacob Ford of Gary, IN, Emanuel Conner of Markham, IL, and Michael Brooks of Indianapolis, IN. 3 sisters: Ti'kesha (Andrew) Phillips and Kelvena Ford of Merrillville, IN, and Lea Brooks of Indianapolis, IN. 2 special nephews whom she helped raise: Delvion Gore of Indianapolis, IN, and Devonte Gore of Fort Wayne, IN. Play sister: Chiquana (Sultan) Muhammad of Mansfield, Texas. 2 God mothers: Jewel McNeil of Indianapolis IN, and Shirley Felton of Chicago, IL. God father: Tyrone Brown of Merrillville, IN. Special friend: Aaron Groce of Gary, IN. She also leaves behind 2 more nephews, 3 nieces, 2 god daughters, 1 god sister, 3 god brothers, and a host of aunties, cousins, and friends. Visitation Friday, April 16, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. all services at the Guy & Allen Chapel 2959 West 11th Avenue.
