Marvin Schuster Obituary

I don't understand why most people don't write their own obituary. Most are written by a close friend or relative who somehow believes that the world needs to know that "Harold" liked to sit in his favorite flannel shirt while watching Packer games or that "Marge" made a fine chicken soup from scratch.

So before one of my friends decides to babble about dozens of meaningless bits of information about my life, in an effort to lengthen my obituary to an impressive size, allow me to pen just a few words on my own behalf, to minimize any potential boredom for anyone mildly interested in reading this.

Webster defines an obituary as… "A notice of a person's death, usually with a short biographical account." So Okay… I was born in Milwaukee on April 23, 1939 and died December 19, 2017 in Appleton, my hometown since 1965. You can now figure out how old I was. By the way, the lawyers need to have this information published in order to settle my estate.

The major accomplishment of my life on this earth was my 43 year marriage to the love of my life, Susan, who left us on March 17, 2003. I fully understand that this short life is but a training ground for the hereafter, and I hope by now that my soul mate and I are once again united, this time forever in our Lord's Kingdom. We will welcome you together when your time comes.

I have asked that a mass be said for me at a later date and that there be no visitation. What's the point of coming to look at a casket? Just think of me once-in-a-while, fondly I hope. Until we meet again do something good for someone everyday.

See you later.

We grew up together on 7th and Abert in Milwaukee. You and 6 other boys were my gang on tricycle. Last time I saw you was in fall of 2012. Sorry we didn't stay in touch. But, we had great lunches at the German restaurant in Appleton. Rest in peace my friend.

Dear Marvin,
Too bad that we have only found you now.
After a long search, I think that you were part of my family. As your obituary is written, I think you were a great person.
