Marjorie Geisler Obituary

Marjorie Cowan Geisler, age 101, died Friday morning, April 6, 2012, at Evergreen, where she has resided since 1998. Born on April 1, 1911, in Chicago, Illinois, to George and Maude (Roberts) Cowan, Marjorie married Carl Robert Geisler at Washington, D.C. in 1941.

She attended Roycemore School and graduated from of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Marjorie was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Neenah, where she served on the Women's Cabinet, founding member and officer of Theda Clark memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Secretary of the original J.N. Bergstrom Community Association, member of Neenah Park and Recreation Commission, volunteer at Mosquito Hill Nature Center, an aide and community representative of Head Start in Neenah and later in Oshkosh, a former officer of Church Women United, and a long time member and officer of the League of Women Voters in Neenah and Clearwater, Florida.

Marjorie served as a guide at the Governor's Mansion in Madison, in 1968, while her husband, Carl, served in Governor Knowles Cabinet. In recent years while living at Evergreen, Marjorie was an active volunteer and head of Evergreen's Art Committee.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol (Joseph) Lehmann of Mequon, Wisconsin; a son, Charles (Barbara Bedford) Geisler of Ithaca, New York; four grandchildren, Joseph (Jennifer) Lehmann, Daniel (Sabrina) Lehmann, Thomas (Kristin) Lehmann, and Katherine Geisler; and three beloved great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts in Marjorie's memory may be given for the replacement of trees in Riverside Park or Oak Hill Cemetery in Neenah, or to Tri County Dental Clinic in Appleton. Marjorie's family extends a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Evergreen and Dr. Curtis Radford for the loving care given to their mother and grandmother during her stay there.
