Jerry Katch Obituary

Katch, Jerry

Jerry L. Katch, age 63, of Elcho, WI and formerly of Seymour, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 2, 2016. He was born December 7, 1952 a son of the late Robert and Marion (Bunkelman) Katch.

He graduated from Seymour High School in 1971. On March 3, 1973 he was united in marriage to Kathy Zuleger.

After moving from Seymour to Elcho, Jerry and Kathy owned a resort and later started Post Lake Real Estate. He was passionate about the outdoors which was his driving force in the real estate business.

Jerry loved golf, both playing and watching on tv. He was also a NASCAR fan. Having campfires, taking rides on the pontoon boat, and watching the Brewers and Packers were some of his favorite things. Jerry also enjoyed going on vacations, especially with his wife and grandchildren.

As an outdoorsman he went on many hunting trips with his boys and family. He also liked spending time in his flower gardens, and was always the go-to guy for anyone that needed help.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Kathy; two sons: Keith and Cory, both of Seymour; grandchildren: Karissa, Kurtis, Kara, Karie, Kacie, and Kyle; siblings: Darlene (Don) Egnarski, Pulaski; Dale (Jean) Katch, Seymour; Dianne (Ray) Gronski, Pulaski; Dave (Sue) Katch, Seymour; Bob Katch, Appleton; Mary Strehlow, Pulaski; Debbie (Steve) Buschel, Pelican Lake; Dan (Renee) Katch, Freedom; Steve Katch, Seymour; Sandy Hendzel, Seymour; Nancy (Fred) Leisgang, Seymour. He is also survived by Kathy's family, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly; brother-in-law, Jerry Strehlow.

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 2 pm until the funeral service at 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Seymour. Online condolences may be expressed at www.muehlboettcher.com

I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't need to know him well to know he was one of the shining stars around Post Lake. The time we spent at Twin Oaks were always good and fun. I regret not getting to know him better and will miss him a lot.

So sorry to hear of Jerry's death. I was a family friend for many years, his sister Bev was one of my best friends. And my brother Ron was a friend of Jerry's at Seymour High School. I also worked at Miller Electric with Jerry and talked to him often there when he worked in our business unit. Was always a great guy and missed seeing him went he quit to move up north===but I am so glad to hear all of the wonderful things posted here about how they loved and respected him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Sorry I could not come to the service as I just found out about it on Friday night. Truly sorry for your loss.

I heard a song on the way home from my brothers funeral. It so fit. It had a line that said every msn dies , but not every man lives. He lived. Everything he did he enjoyed. That was the brother I will always remember.

Dear Kathy,
My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
Jerry will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have met him. He was a wonderful man and realtor who was excellent at what he did. He became our friend after we bought our cottage on Post Lake. He always went the extra mile making sure everything went smoothly for his clients and was only a phone call away if anything was needed after the sale. Truly cared about his profession and clients. May he rest in Peace.

There are times, if you are lucky, someone comes into your life and opens doors to a place called friendship. If you are really lucky that person becomes your "best" friend.

This person shares your life in ways that no one else can.

They understand you without you telling them what you are thinking.

They are there to assist you no matter how dumb the idea.

They tell you "if we get caught, you're deaf and I don't speak English".

They share your moments of glory without taking any praise.

They share your sorrows without having to understand but by just being there when needed.

They have your back, no matter what, without you asking.

They teach you without making you feel dumb.

Every day without saying a word they tell you what real friendship is.

They call when you were thinking about talking to them.

They allow you into their life, telling you only things that a best friend can share.

They are the people you share your dreams with knowing that they have some of the same dreams.

I have been blessed because I have such a friend!

Even though he is gone I will cherish the friendship that we shared for all of these years.

There will be times that I will miss you but I will never forget you.

Your friend Larry

It is with deepest sympathy, and shock, that we have heard of the death of Jerry. We currently have a cottage listing with him and have found his commitment to the Post Lake real estate market, the love of the area and Post Lake, and his giving to the community admirable. He talked often of his wife, sons and grandchildren. He especially discussed his love in bringing the grandchildren to Post Lake for some summertime fun. He will truly be missed! You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

My deepest sympathy to you Kathy and your family, may god give you strength to get through this difficult time.

All of us who knew Jerry are just totally shocked. We met Jerry about two years ago as he really helped us out with our new place on Post Lake, if it wasn't for Jerry we wouldn't have found our get away paradise. He was a really great friend that always had a smile for everyone he will truly be missed.
Once again my condolences to the entire Katch Family.

I am so saddened by Jerry's passing I am having trouble even saying anything. He was a friend in business. I just spoke with him last week and as always he was willing to share his ideas with a question I had. I called Jerry quite often and I will miss those calls and his willingness to work together in this very competitive real estate business. May you as a family be able to ease the pain of his passing with the wonderful memories I am certain you have of him. He will be missed. Cheryl Eskridge from Eskridge Real Estate.

I met Jerry in 1997 when he opened Pine Point Resort. We were Jerry & Kathy's 1st guests, and have stayed there every year while they owned the resort. Jerry was a great friend- very helpful as I am older and he would put the boat in the water and attach the motor for me. We had many great conversations about fishing, the geese that were constantly annoying him,our families, the Cubs and Brewers, Packers and Bears, Post Lake history. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. I am very lucky to have known him as a friend. Our condolences to Kathy and his children and grandchildren who he loved so dearly.
