JoANNE EMERY Obituary
Age 83, at home peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, of Brentwood. Beloved wife of the late Jim Emery; loving mother of Laurenda (Dave) Mackey, Jamie (Bob) Carnegie, Kathleen Kraus, Tom (Mary Beth), Julie (Rob) McGlaughlin, and the late Michael (Bobby) Emery; proud grandmother of 14; great-grandmother of one, soon to be three; sister of Rose Ellen (John) Goda, Ellen Rufft, CDP and the late Mary Jean Rufft; also survived by dear cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. JoAnne was a pioneer graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where she earned a B.S. in Business Administration (1953). She enjoyed reading, opera, and frequent New York City trips. JoAnne was at her happiest being a wife, mother, and grandmother. A close second was being at a casino or enjoying a good Manhattan. Her family will miss her positive outlook on life and unique sense of humor. Friends will be received at the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday and Friday from 2-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Saturday morning at 9:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Sylvester Church at 10:00 a.m. If desired, family suggests contributions to National M.S. We are so sorry for your loss Julie, Rob and the entire Emery family. We'll keep you in our prayers during this difficult time. I can only imagine how tough it is on all of you. She was a wonderful woman with such a great sense of humor.
