ALEXIA SISTER M. AUGUSTA, SC
Age 85, died at Caritas Christi, the motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill in Greensburg, on April 18, 2016. A native of Herman, PA, Sister M. Augusta entered the congregation of the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1950, from Saint Catherine of Sweden Parish, Wildwood, PA. Preceded in death by her father, John; her mother, Clara (Baldauf) Alexia Jones; her stepfather, Thomas Jones; and her brother, John. She is survived by her two sisters, Mrs. Shirley Holifield, Mrs. Nancy Manos; and a stepbrother, Eugene Jones. From 1952 until 1958, Sister Augusta was a staff member for maintenance supervision at Seton Hill University. She ministered in Arizona at St. Mary School, Chandler, St. John Evangelist School, Tucson and Immaculate Conception School, Ajo. She served as a nurse aide at Assumption Hall, the former infirmary for the Sisters of Charity and continued to serve the infirm sisters at Caritas Christi while assisting in the creation of crafts. In living her life as a Sister of Charity, Sister M. Augusta followed the teaching of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, "Put your heart at His feet; it is the gift He loves best." Visitation Wednesday, April 20, 2016, 1-7 p.m and Thursday 9-11 a.m. Vigil Wednesday, April 20, 2016, 7 p.m. Funeral Thursday, April 21, 2016, 11 a.m. Caritas Christi Motherhouse, Mt. Thor Road, Greensburg, PA 15601. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Charity, De Paul Center, 144 DePaul Center Road, Greensburg, PA 15601.
