Bryce Robert Madsen, 80, of Shelley, passed away Aug. 25, 2017, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
He was born Feb. 26, 1937, to Leona (Shaw) and Robert Eugene Madsen in Venice, Utah. He was the eldest of four siblings.
He married Karlyn Durran on March 16, 1956. They later divorced. He then married Gayle Miner on Dec. 12, 1987. They made their home in Shelley, Idaho, where they were residing at the time of his death.
The family moved to Tooele, Utah, where Bryce grew up and graduated from Tooele High School. He spent his life as a professional body and fender mechanic, painter and pin stripper. His body work and paint jobs were flawless. He was a master at mixing paint to match any vehicle he was working on. When pin stripping became a fad, he was the best. He was very proud of every vehicle that left his shop. This profession led Bryce and his friends into forming the first car club in Tooele called the Kingstons. They met weekly to help each other work on their vehicles and teach each other their professions. Bryce also loved to fish, hunt and square dance.
Bryce is survived by his wife; five children, Cherri Dare, Tooele, Utah; Jerri Brown, Tooele, Utah; Betty (John) Donnelly, Stansbury, Utah; Neil Madsen, Tooele, Utah; and Karma (Ronald) Rette, New Egypt, New Jersey; stepson, Corey (Anita) Green, Salt Lake City, Utah; siblings, Clive (Stella) Madsen, Fontana, California, and Shirlene (Howard) Emry, Sandy, Utah; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and two step-grandchildren. Deceased family members are mother, father and sister, Barbara Kirk.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Taylor Cemetery, 720 E. 129 S., Idaho Falls, Idaho. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.nalderfuneralhome.com.
