Bernie I just learned of your passing. You were a gift from God - the best of the best with a heart of gold filled with common sense & compassion for all.
My Dad, Lou, Mom Annette, my entire family and I loved you for your honesty, quick witted humor, and intellectual ability to cut to the heart of a matter as you resolved a situation that left all parties feeling they had won! The mold from which you were born has been broken! You were truly a one of a kind honorable man.
To this day as I reflect on an issue I ask myself, "What would Bernie Do?" I can hear you advising me and you are always amazingly quick and correct in your judgment!
Rest in peace, my dear professor, colleague & friend.
May all the heavenly angels with God by your side sing your praises forever and ever while protecting your loved ones here on earth.
God bless you & yours Bernie, and thank you for being a marvelous presence in my life! Marie Fiore LoCastro

Bernie was my college Real Estate Professor and we became life long friends. I could always call him about my life and real estate problems. He was the Rhinebeck Town Attorney when I served on the Town Board and Bernie made those town board meeting fun. His great humor and wisdom will be missed by me and many others. A finer man and mentor I will never find. RIP Bernie.

We are going to miss Bernie. He was a native Hyde Parker and a "Life Member" of our Town of Hyde Park Historical Society. Luckily we were able to record his life story last year...and what a life he had. He was our legal advisor for our Historical Society and always enjoyed talking about the Roosevelts. His parents and mine were member of the F. D. Roosevelt Home Club, and we enjoyed reminiscing about our history of Hyde Park.
May Bernie rest in peace! We will miss him!
Our condolences to RoseMarie and to the other members of his family.
Sincerely,
Patsy N. Costello, President
Town of Hyde Park Historical Society
