Phillip Weston Obituary

Weston, Phillip D., Sr.

Phillip D. Weston, Sr., 83, of Vestal, passed away with family present on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Johnson City. Phillip was predeceased by his parents George and Kathleen Weston. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alice Traver Weston and six children, Phillip (Judy), Thomas (Cynthia), Rebecca (Michael)Hess, Peter (Karen), Jennifer (Thomas) Hedderman, and Andrew (fiancée Mary Jo Lane). He is also survived by three brothers and one sister, David (Marylinn), Daniel (Cathy), George (Terry) and Mary (James) Stone; sisters and brothers-in-law, Billie Foster, Walter Traver, Eleanor and Kenny Mosher, Mary and Al Reed, Mark and Febb Traver; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Phil was grandfather to 18, and great-grandfather to nine children. A 1947 graduate of Vestal High School, Phil was retired from IBM in 1985. A celebration of his life, officiated by the Rev. Michael Willis, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 16 at Vestal United Methodist Church, 329 Main St. Vestal, NY, where Phil was a member for more than 70 years. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, 7-9 and Wednesday noon-2 at the church. Interment will be in Vestal Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute to the Vestal United Methodist Church Memorial fund, or a charity of one's choice. The family wishes to thank the staff of Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care they showed Phillip. Funeral arrangements by Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home.
