Doris Kawash Obituary

Doris Lucille Kawash, 80, of Conklin, New York, passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital on Oct. 1 after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Badger. Doris is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Eugene M. Kawash, her loving daughter Lori Derrick of Binghamton, two very special grandchildren, Kelly J. Derrick and Matthew J. Derrick, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Doris was born in 1930 and spent her childhood on the east side of Binghamton. She attended Tufts University and married in 1957. She was employed by Singer Link and was a secretary for the Susquehanna Valley School District. She enjoyed her working years and made friends easily, cherishing laughter and good times with all. She was a lifelong member of Fairview United Methodist Church and a member of United Methodist Women's Group. Doris loved golf, a good game of Yahtzee, traveling and especially swimming in Fish Creek in the Adirondacks. In remembrance of Doris, the family suggests you enjoy a cup of coffee and an Oreo. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday Oct. 5 at 10 a.m. at the Fairview United Methodist Church, 254 Robinson Street, Binghamton. Rev. Janet Clark will officiate. Friends may call at the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 137 Robinson Street, Binghamton, on Monday Oct. 4 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Dear Gene and Lori,

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy on Doris' death. I know you will miss her. She was truly a "fine" Christian woman. Her smile was infectuous. She was a joy for me to know. Thanks be to God for Doris' victory in Christ!
