Strope, E. Dorothea (Dottie)

E. Dorothea (Dottie) Strope, residing in Sterling, Virginia, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2012 at the age of 97. She was born on September 19, 1914 in Johnson City, New York to Warren and Ada Johnson. She had two siblings, Richard (deceased) and Norman (deceased). Binghamton was her home until November of 2011. She graduated from Binghamton Central High School in 1933. Married and had one son (Richard) who died in 1966. Dottie was a long time employee of Links Aviation and retired in 1979. She enjoyed traveling with her friends Viva Schouten and Elsie Winchell. She truly loved ceramics and painting, giving many items to friends and family. She is survived by her daughter-in- law, Betty Linn; Grandson, Nick Strope and his wife Leslie Strope and great grandchildren, Savannah and Nickolas Strope; Niece Linda Turner. She was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Services will be at a later date in Colorado with her son. Condolences can be sent to 113 S. Dickenson Ave, Sterling, Va 20164

I didn't know Dottie personally, but got to know this remarkable lady through her daughter-in-law and friend of mine, Betty Linn. Dottie was loved so very much by her family and was most fortunate to have them and her Binghamton friends by her side throughout her life. Peace and prayers to all of Dottie's friends and particularly to her loving family.
