To Ed's Family---You can tell how much everyone liked Ed when you see the people like Jack Spalik, Dave Stark and others writing about the JC high school days when Ed graduated in 1950. Ed's football teams went 28 straight without a loss--and the loss came after Ed graduated (my class of 1951-52, had the misfortune)--Ed was the first JC player that I remember seeing dunk a basketball, to many oohs and aahs. Plus--he was a real nice guy, and did many things for his community. I haven't seen Ed since high school, but did follow his fine efforts for the city (online is great).
You can be real proud to be in his family.

To the Family of Edward Matyas, know you have my fullest support at this time and my heartfelt loss in Edward's passing. I remember well, often talking to him as he visited The Northside of Endicott when Ed Jr. lived here and we would converse on issues we shared as we both served as Trustees and chit chat about my Dad's friendship with his brother Francis while they served together and shared a bond as Endicott Policemen. What a wonderful man and to have given so much to his Family, his Roots, his community and the Youth of this area we thank him for that and thank his Family for sharing his time with us to make this area a wonderful place to live and enjoy.Thank you again Ed and we will remember you.
