Floyd C. Rieder
of Binghamton
Floyd C. Rieder, 83, of Binghamton, was carried home on angel's wings after a brief illness on Thursday, June 8, 2006. He was predeceased by his parents, Melchoir and Mae Rieder; his siblings, and his infant son. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Arretta (Shirley) (Dix); daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Jim Moffitt, Vernon Center, N.Y., Kathy Guinan and Jim Cucci; grandsons, Matthew and Timothy Karhnak; grandpets, especially Holly; two sisters-in-law, Sally Dix and Linda Dix; brother-in-law, William Osborne, Sr.; several nieces and nephews. He looked forward to meeting his morning coffee friends at McDonald's. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 70th Tank Battalion Combat Operation. Floyd enjoyed bowling, camping, watching hot air balloons and hummingbirds.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, June 12, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, N.Y. 13901, with Pastor Douglas Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2006. Donations may be made in Floyd's memory to the American Heart Association, 59 Court Street, Binghamton, N.Y. 13901, or a charity of your choice.
