Gary W. Pfeifer
of Marathon
Gary W. Pfeifer, 57, of Marathon, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, June 15, 2002, in Binghamton. Gary was born October 16, 1944 in Cortland the son of the late Warren and Alice Tarbell Pfeifer. Gary served his country with the Marines during the Viet Nam War. He was employed as an engineer with Link Training Systems in Binghamton. He was a life member of the Marathon Fire Department and Emergency Squad and had served as one of the department's commissioners. He was a Ham Radio operator and member of the Skyline Amateur Radio club. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cheryl Fitch Pfeifer, Marathon; his son, Brandon (Lori) Pfeifer, Rochester; his daughter, Erica Pfeifer and her fiancee, Darrell Church, Marathon; his grandchildren, Hannah Rose Pfeifer and Jordyn Ann Church; a sister, Narda (Albert) Jobmann, Endicott; many nieces and nephews; his step mother, Neva Jeffery Pfeifer, Cortland. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at 1:00 p.m. at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland with Pastor Floyd Drake, officiating. Interment will follow in Marathon Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in Gary's name is asked to consider The Marathon Emergency Squad, Peck St., Marathon, N.Y. 13803.
