Grace A. Thomas Faberski went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 9, 2009. She passed away at the Westbury Medical Care Home in Jackson, GA where she had recently been residing near her daughter. She was born on March 15, 1918 in Muncey, PA. Grace was predeceased by her first husband, William "Bill" Thomas; her son, Ralph Thomas; her brothers, Ken, Harold, Elmer, Albert, Allen and Edwin Hakes; her sisters, Ruth Leahy, Eleanor Tshoppe; and her sisters-in-law, Edith Seigle, Gladys Lake. Grace is survived by her husband of the last twenty years, Joseph Faberski, Haines City, FL; her daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Gary Walters, Marietta, GA; her daughter-in-law and husband, Beverly (Thomas) and Jeff Dimick, Owego; her grandchildren, Curt and Karen Thomas, Sheryl and Jim Raftis, Jr., Owego, Kristine and Bob Goszewski, Depew, NY, Anne and Lindsay Thomas, Watkinsville, GA, Susan Parcels, Statesboro, GA; her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Mark, Anthony, Joshua, Stephanie, Daniel, Rachel, Jacob, Laurel and Julia. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and David Reynolds; her brother, James Hakes; many nieces and nephews. Grace graduated from Owego Free Academy in 1935 and during WWII she was employed by Link doing airplane assembly. In the early 1950's she worked for the Owego Gazette and later was the secretary and bookkeeper for VanDeMark & Thomas Plumbing for more than twenty years. Grace was a member of the Owego United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, and in later years attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Owego. She was a Girl Scout Brownie Leader and active at the Community Senior Center before moving South. She spent her last twenty five years living in sunny Florida with her husband Joe. Grace will be greatly missed by us all.
A Funeral Service will be held at Richards Funeral Home, Rte. 17c West, Owego, NY, on Friday, October 16, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Alan Jagger officiating. Interment will follow in Tioga Cemetery, Owego.
