Paul S. Griffiths, 77, of Vestal, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 30, 2015, with his family at his side. Born in Scranton to Lloyd and Helen Phillips Griffiths in 1938, he is survived by his wife, Verna two daughters, Robyn and her husband Nathan Denney, and Megan and her husband John Dovin, four grandsons who were the love of his life, AJ, Andrew and Matthew Dovin and Liam Denney. He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Mary Ann Griffiths, two nieces, Barbara Brooks and Molly Breiling and their families, and a sister-in-law Margaret Eichenhofer (Mrs. Donald) and two nephews, David and Jim Eichenhofer. His many cousins, his extended family, and dear friends John Vallone and Doug Ferrell will miss his great smile and constant interest in their lives and their friendship. After graduating from Mansfield University with a teaching degree and SUNY Binghamton with a Master's Degree in Computer Science, Paul's lifelong interest in math and teaching led him to IBM, Singer Link, and ENSCO with a stay at Hartwick College to teach computer science. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and his community as a member of the Vestal School Board. His love of music had him using his beautiful tenor voice to sing with church choirs, the IBM Glee Club, Downtown Singers and the St. David's Male Chorus of Scranton. He was always an active participant in the life of his church, teaching bible study groups and Sunday School Classes, serving on boards and committees. After retiring from industry he turned to the ministry serving as pastor to the Candor Congregational Church for several years and serving as pastor to the First Christian Church of Endicott until his retirement. His faith was strong and was his great support through his period of illness. Of all his interests, his family was his delight. He especially looked forward each year to the month of March when he would travel to North Myrtle Beach and enjoy the company of Bill and Linda Dovin and eventually the arrival of the grandsons and their parents. His greatest joy was to be with his grandsons and be a part of their lives. A celebration of Paul's life will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church of Montrose, PA with calling hour at 1 p.m. and a service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 367 Church Street, Montrose, PA 18801.
