Ruth Joyner Obituary

Joyner, Ruth E. Terboss (Swan)

Conklin: Ruth E. Terboss Joyner, 90, went to be with her God on January 25, 2012. She passed peacefully with her family by her side. This obituary is in her words, for her family. She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Terboss, and her second husband, Frederick Joyner; parents John and Maude Swan; brothers Leon, Hiram, Harold, Albert, Herbert, Stewart, Earl; and sister Marion. Ruth is survived by two sons, Richard and Carol Terboss, William and Jean Terboss; and one daughter, as she wrote, her pride and joy Debra and Paul Preston; grandchildren, Teena Preston, Tammy Terboss, Robert Terboss, Steven Terboss, Jenny Nestrick, Kelli McNeill, Melissa Devendorf, Michelle Decker; and also 13 great grandchildren. Ruth is also survived by special friend Nancy Leitner. Ruth worked for Link Aviation and IBM as an Electrical Designer. She retired from Binghamton General Hospital where she worked in the Emergency Room. She was a long time member of the Conklin Seniors, and was their tour director for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 1194, VFW Auxiliary 6233 and Catholic Daughters for many years. She was a Republican Committee person and Broome County election inspector for many years. Ruth was a member of Sts. John and Andrew Church. Ruth was an ardent fan of the New York Mets and Binghamton Mets and never missed watching or listening to a game. She was also an avid fan of the Conklin Youth Sports Program where you could depend on seeing her at most of the Youth Baseball games. A special thanks to Dr. Ramanujan for his many years of care and compassion. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Savage Funeral Home, 338-344 Conklin Ave., Binghamton. A Mass will be offered Monday, January 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. John and Andrew Church with Rev. Msgr. Michael Meagher officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, Ruth asks that donations be made to the Conklin Youth Sports Program, c/o Town of Conklin, 1271 Conklin Rd., Conklin, NY. I was sad to read about Ruth's passing. I worked for Shafer's Tour and Charter and worked closely with Ruth on her trips that she planned for the Conklin Seniors. I am no longer with Shafers since I have moved. She was one classy lady. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
