Virginia Margaret Mae Williams (Barton)

Virginia Margaret Mae Williams (Barton) 93, formerly from Binghamton, passed away at the VITAS Hospice in Winter Garden, FL. on September 2, 2020. She is predeceased by her husband Silas E. Williams, toddler son Jimmy and eldest son Terry (Janet).

She is survived by her sons Tom (Donna) Apalachin, NY, Kevin (Debi), Wake Forest, NC, Steve (Annie) Apalachin, NY, Marvin, Binghamton, and daughter Brenda, Winter Garden , FL; grandchildren Sara (Tim) Evanchick, Nathan (Kristi) Williams; Rachel (Mark) Pifher, Jeremy (Katie) Williams, Adam (Jolene) Williams; Danielle (Rob) Bell, Graham Williams; Andy Williams; Ellie Williams; 10 great-grandchildren. Several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was born in Johnson City, NY on June 14, 1927 and raised in New Milford, PA. Virginia enjoyed raising her family in Binghamton while continuing to work at Singer-Link, finally choosing to retire in the late 1980s. She spent many days tending to her garden and teaching her children to fish and camp. She was an avid writer and most especially loved to write poems to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She cherished time spent with her children, their spouses, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed a full and vibrant life with her many friends doing crafts and many travel adventures with her family. She spent her past twenty years in the sunshine state, frequently visiting Walt Disney World with family and friends and taking on the latest thrill rides well into her early 90's.

She will be dearly missed.

Memorial service is being held on Saturday, Oct. 9th, 2021 at 11am at the Community Baptist Church, 743 Chenango St. Binghamton - followed by a luncheon at My Uncle's Place, 120 E. Service Rd. Binghamton from 1-3pm. Family will be going to Port Crane Cemetery at 44 Park St. following the Memorial.

My father, Edward DuBois work with Silas. I remember him when I worked at Link also. Later in life, I went to Broome Tech with Terry. I remember meeting Virginia a few times at their house. I am very sorry for your loss.
