James Dietzman Obituary
James (Jimmy) L. Dietzman, 74, formerly from the Town of Coventry, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2011. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter & Martha Dietzman; brother, Paul; and a sister, Mary O'Connor Hinchcliffe. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 53 years, Mary Mead Dietzman; his children and their spouses, Debbie and Bob Strilka, Jim (Mike) and Carey Dietzman, Laurie and Jeff Winchell, Dianne and Philip Brooks, and Peter and MaryAnn Dietzman. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tom Strilka, Roxie, Jason, Tiffany Dietzman, Nick and Matt Winchell, Jessica and Colin Brooks, and Evan and Ellen Dietzman, and additionally, one great-granddaughter, Georgia Lynn. Also surviving are Jim's brothers and sisters and their spouses, John and Mary Dietzman, Doris Homan, Frances (Sissy) and Richard Baker, Joe and Roberta Dietzman, and Ann and Bill Linn, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim retired from Ashland Chemical after 31 years and from Elliot Manufacturing after 13 years. His greatest passions were working in the garage, tinkering or fixing anything that needed repair, and being outdoors, riding his tractor, or walking on the land and in the woods he loved. Special thanks to all the aides and staff from the 3rd Floor at the Absolut Nursing Center, Endicott for their time, patience, good care, and support. Funeral Services will be held 1 pm Tuesday at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango Street, Greene, NY 13778. Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday from 12 noon until the time of service at Root Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Coventry Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Coventry Emergency Squad or the Coventry Fire Department, Greene, NY 13778. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com

I'll miss Mr. Dietzman. He was always concerned that the cart I was pushing with the snacks on it wasn't in good repair (and it is pretty rickety). He'd poke at it for me and I'd thank him for 'fixing it.' :) He was a good man and will be missed!

Dear Mary & family,
We were so sorry to hear of Jimmy's passing and we are so very sorry for your loss. Jimmy was truly a wonderful person and will be missed by all that knew him. I am Cliff's daughter and I remember hearing all the funny stories my dad would tell me about Jimmy and John and all the crew at Ashland. I know that my dad and him are having quite the gab session up in heaven, catching up on everything and having lots of laughs.
