Shelly Jewett Obituary

JEWETT,Shelly Merchen Shelly passed away unexpectedly February 20, 2011 at the age of 51. Born March 5, 1959 in Kadoka, SD. Shelly was the only daughter of Bernard and Joyce Merchen. Her family moved to Upper Lake when Shelly was very young. She attended Upper Lake Schools, graduating from Upper Lake High in 1976. After graduation Shelly moved to Santa Rosa to attend Santa Rosa JC. That is where she met and married the love of her life, Michael Jewett. Shelly and Mike were blessed with two beautiful children, Chrissy and Jason. Shelly enjoyed life. Her evenings were spent with her husband in a game of cards or a video game. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and over the years, her annual camping trips to Memorial Park, near Half Moon Bay. Her fun ways and humor are a wonderful memory which will be cherished forever. Shelly was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Merchen. She is survived by her loving husband of 32 happy years, Michael Jewett of Santa Rosa; her father, Bernard (Roberta) Merchen of Lakeport; her children, Chrissy Jewett of Santa Rosa and Sergeant Jason (Kaitlin) Jewett USMC stationed in Taiwan; grandchildren, Brayden Jewett and Vance Jewett; her brothers, Steve Merchen of Nice and Joe (Elaine) Merchen of Clearlake Oaks; Aunt Beverly (Jimmy) Paxton of Idaho; mother-in-law, Fran Jewett of Santa Rosa and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, February 27 at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary. So sorry to hear of shelly's passing at such a young age...remember her from school and know that she carried her passion and spirit beyound school. Steve so sorry to hear of your loss, and i remember asking how your sister was doing through the years i have known of your family....again so sorry that you lost her too soon.
